Atha (Micki) Trusler, 82, South English, died July 19, 2012, at the Hospice House, Hiawatha.
Graveside services will be held at a later date in the South English Cemetery.

Atha (Micki) Trusler was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Edmore, N.D., the daughter of Frank A. and Vera E. Proctor Rumer. She grew up in North Dakota and moved to Iowa in 1951.

She married Ross Leroy Trusler Oct. 15, 1971, at the Union Church, South English. She and her husband served as foster parents for 56 children, many with special needs.

Her husband died in April 2003. She moved to Middle Amana in 2011. She loved her kids and her dog Sophie. She enjoyed going to Goodwill and every Sunday, eating at Texas Roadhouse.

Trusler is survived by two daughters, Linda Roseman, Yuma, Ariz., and Jody Van Zante, Williamsburg; two sons, Joel and Julie Van Zante, Riverside, and Craig Wagamon, De Pere, Wis.; one stepdaughter, Kathy and Michael Smith, Bellevue, Neb.; granddaughter, Brittany and Jereme Goltz, along with many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and one brother, Lynn Rumer, Thornburg.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Lonnie Van Zante; one step-daughter, Kerry Kunde, and two brothers, Dale and Wayne Rumer.
