Funeral services for Margret J. “Peggy” Cooperider, 92, Marengo, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.
Karmen Jamison, SACLS, officiated at the service.
Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa.

Margret Jane “Peggy” Cooperider was born July 9, 1919, on the family farm north of Watkins, the daughter of George A. and Mina Trimble Newton. She graduated from Norway High School in 1936.
She married Lawrence A. Cooperider June 16, 1940, at Norway, the day of her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.
The couple farmed in the area for many years. Bus and Peggy moved to their cottage on the Iowa River near Iowa City when their youngest son left for college. They relocated to Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and 35 years ago they returned to Marengo.
She was a member of Rebekahs, Eastern Star, the Garden Club and Ingleside Federated Club. In earlier years, she was active in 4-H and served as a county president. Later, she was a 4-H leader for the Marengo Busy Bodies.
Cooperider is survived by two sons, Albert, Marengo, and George and wife Arlene, Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Ellen and Steve Knier, Grafton, Wis.; Mark and Jungsun Cooperider, Keizer, Ore., and David and Mardi Cooperider, Omaha; three great-grandchildren, Spencer, Alaina and Marleigh Knier; one nephew, Keith Newton, Norway, and two nieces, Bev Bieber and Pat Bunch, both Cedar Rapids, and many other nieces and nephews on both sides.
She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2006; her parents; one brother and his wife, James and Betty Newton, and one sister and her husband, Bernice and Mel Bieber.
