Celebration of life services for William M. Blair, 85, Millersburg, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, at Powell Funeral Home, North English. He died Sunday, May 27, 2012, at his home after a sudden illness.

Burial was in the Piersol Cemetery, North English.

A general memorial fund has been established.

William Mathew Blair was born June 16, 1926, the son of Oscar Rude and Jessie Mae (Jordan) Blair. He attended Wellman High School.

He married Dorla Woods and they were later divorced. They were blessed with five daughters, Ramona, Juanita, Rosa, Christina and Patricia.

He married Charlene Ruth Blakeman Sept. 22, 1965, in Dubuque. He owned and operated Blairs truck repair for over 20 years and recently worked for Engineered Building Designs, Washington, for 15 years.

He enjoyed yard work, small engine repair and mechanics.

Blair is survived by his wife, Charlene, Millersburg; his children and their spouses, Ramona and Orville Loghry, Des Moines; Juanita and Mike Young, Rosa Blair, Christina Blair and Patricia Blair, all Cedar Rapids; William Michael Blair, Iowa City; Melissa and John McDowell, North English, and Rebecca Chalupa, Millersburg; four stepchildren, Steven Johnson, Wisconsin; Craig Johnson, Virginia; Tim Johnson, North English, and Lori Snyder, Waterloo; 31 grandchildren; 40-plus great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one brother, Merle James Blair, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alverda Duffy, and three brothers, Kenneth, Pat and Frances.
