Funeral services for F. Frank “Frankie” Buhr, 82, Keystone, were held Thursday, July 22, at Phillips Funeral Home, Keystone. He died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a brief illness.

The Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Keystone Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Frank Buhr was born May 17, 1928, near Vinton, the son of Oscar and Anna (Jaeger) Buhr.

He married Diana Hollingshead Aug. 4, 1959, at Dana.

A well-known and talented musician, he played for decades with the band that bore his name and with many other well-known bands and musicians. He enjoyed entertaining at nursing homes and senior citizen gatherings.

Feb. 3, 1996, he received the KCRG TV 9 “Show You Care” award. He also served as a bus driver for the Benton Community School District.

Buhr is survived by his wife; his children and their spouses, Rodney and Kathy Buhr, Marshalltown; Ryan and Amy Buhr, Newhall; Randy Buhr, Blairstown; Cindy and Brian “Opie” Kimm, Blairstown; LuAnn Hansen and Dave Gasper, Blairstown; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one sister, Elfrieda Dunker, Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; twin sons, Danny and David Buhr, and an infant grandson, Angelice Buhr.
