Mass of Christian burial for Ruth M. (Hartin) Peterson was held Dec. 18, 2010, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Portland, Ore. She passed away peacefully with her family beside her Dec. 11, 2010, in Kirkland, Wash.

Ruth Mary Peterson was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Koszta, the daughter of Peter and Nora (Simmons) Hartin. She graduated from St. John’s School, Victor. After graduation she settled in California.

She was a hard worker and cherished the love of her family. She will be remembered for her loving Irish spirit, spontaneous wit and humor and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Peterson is survived by three children and their spouses, Larry and Jenny Peterson, Astoria, Ore.; Donna and Tom Leahy, Portland, Ore., and Lee Peterson, Chelan, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Coppock, Cedar Rapids, and three sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; one daughter, Terry; one son, Bill; her parents; nine brothers and six sisters-in-law.
