Funeral services for H. Eugene Danskin, 92, Marengo, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at First United Methodist Church, Marengo. He died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at Marengo Memorial Hospital.

The Rev. Katie Dawson officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Marengo Memorial Hospital.

Harry Eugene Danskin was born Sept. 7, 1918, in Marengo, the son of Harry G. and Emma V. McKusker Danskin. He graduated from Marengo High School in 1935.

He married Arleen Marie Madison Dec. 26, 1941, in Kirksville, Mo. The couple farmed for many years. They moved from the farm to Marengo in 2001.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marengo, where he was very active in earlier years. He also belonged to the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed his card clubs and was an avid Hawkeye fan.

Danskin is survived by two sons, David, Coralville, and Jon and wife Julie, St. Paul, Minn., and two grandchildren, Emma Danskin and Erik Danskin and wife Lauren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2006; his parents; one brother, Frank; one sister, Helen Messer, and one half-brother, Dick Fiester.
