Celebration of life service for Marjorie E. Roehrkasse, 94, Williamsburg, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, at the Cottage Grove Place, Cedar Rapids.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service. Organist was Karin Winwood. Vocalists were Bill and Rita McDonald and Edgar and Sandy Ficken. Selections included “How Great Thou Art,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “In The Garden.” Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Casket bearers were Mark Kaschmitter, Jeff Hornig, Mark Rahn, Brian Roehrkasse, Peder Kopperud and Michael Roehrkasse.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, VFW Post 8797 Auxiliary and Cottage Grove Place Foundation. Powell Funeral Home, and Cremation Service, Williamsburg, was in charge of arrangements. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Marjorie Elizabeth Roehrkasse was born Sept. 9, 1916, in Conroy, the daughter of Davis and Rose (Olson) Frick. She graduated from Marengo High School and did one year of post graduate work to receive her teaching certificate. She grew up in the Conroy and Marengo communities and moved to Williamsburg in 1940.

She married Laurence F. Roehrkasse Jan. 21, 1940, in Macon, Mo. She taught rural school at Sumner Number Six for two years, worked at the Central Iowa Telephone Company, Marengo, for two years, worked part-time for ACT from 1978 to 1994 and was co-owner and operator of Roehrkasse Meat Company, Williamsburg.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, where she was a past president of the Ladies Guild. She was a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of VFW Post 8797 Auxiliary. She was an avid bridge player and loved to travel, spending many winters snowbirding in south Texas. The four most important things in her life were her faith, her family, friends and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Her family would like to thank the Cottage Grove Place staff for the wonderful care they gave her.
Roehrkasse is survived by her children and their spouses, Sharon and Matthew Kaschmitter, Coralville; Larry and Karol Roehrkasse, Stillwater, Minn.; John and Nancy Roehrkasse, Urbandale, and Don and Ann Roehrkasse, Hiawatha; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Randy Vogel, Mark and Bronda Kaschmitter, Olivia and Jeff Hornig, Rachel and Mark Rahn, Brian Roehrkasse and fiance Megan Gerking, Dr. Tracey and Peder Kopperud, Eric and Jenn Roehrkasse and Michael and Haley Roehrkase; nine great-grandchildren, Luke Kaschmitter, Elizabeth Kaschmitter, Lleyton Hornig, Shale Hornig, Alijandra Rahn, Mark Rahn and Rebekah Roehrkasse, Lilliann Roehrkasse and Addison Roehrkasse.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister, Kathryn Froemming, and three brothers, Dale, Max and John Frick.
