Funeral services for Hollis H. “Buck” Fish, 66, Park View, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Park View Lutheran Church, where he was a member and sang in the choir.

He died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport.

Graveside services with military honors were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Park View Lutheran Church, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Hollis H. Fish was born April 22, 1944, in Grinnell, the son of Hollis E. and Blanche (Reichart) Fish. He was a 1963 graduate of Victor High School. He was baptized June 29, 1959, at the Victor Baptist Church and confirmed Oct. 25, 1987, at Faith Lutheran Church, Lake Forest, Ill.

He married Mary L. Kalainoff Sept. 20, 1975, in Denver, Iowa. He served for 22 years in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman and had served on the USS Repose in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged as an E-7 in 1988. During his miliary career, he was stationed at military bases in Taiwan, Japan, Cuba, Pennsylvania and Great Lakes, Ill. Following his military service, he was employed as an environmentalist for the Scott County Health Department, retiring in 2006.

Hunting and fishing were two of his favorite activities. He loved to sing, enjoyed southern gospel music, always had a good joke to tell and will long be remembered by his family and many friends for his good sense of humor and his gentle personality. He took great pride in and dearly loved his granddaughter, Emery.

Fish is survived by his wife; one daughter and her husband, Kimberly and Andrew Cronkleton, Donahue; one son, Benjamin Fish, Denver, Colo.; his granddaughter, Emery Cronkleton; one sister, Mary E. Fish, Victor; his mother-in-law, Hilda Kalainoff, Denver, Iowa; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Kathy Kubik, Denver, Iowa; Robert and Virginia Otto, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; Richard and Elaine Buchholz, Denver, Iowa; Paul and Susan Kalainoff, Eldridge; David and Debbie Kalainoff, Bernardsville, N.J., and Mark and Yancy Kalainoff, Los Angeles, Calif., and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.
