Funeral services for Mary Lou Roemig, 69, Middle Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, at the New Apostolic Church, Cedar Rapids. She died Friday, April 8, 2011, at Colonial Manor of Amana.

The Rev. Larry Dollmeyer officiated at the service.

Burial was in the West Amana Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Essence of Life Hospice or Colonial Manor of Amana.

Mary Lou Roemig was born Aug. 17, 1941, in West Amana, the daughter of Alfred Otto and Elsie Lina Mittelbach Ehrmann. She graduated from the Amana High School in 1959 and attended Paris Academy of Beauty Culture, Cedar Rapids, receiving her beautician’s license.

She was employed over the years at the Amana Woolen Mill and Amana Refrigeration. She also worked as a beautician.

She married Gilbert Roemig May 30, 1981, at the New Apostolic Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple resided in Middle Amana.

She enjoyed gardening in her free time, especially her flower garden.

Roemig is survived by her husband; one sister and her husband, Sandra and Curt Ludovissy, West Amana, and one nephew and his wife, Jason and Jewel Ludovissy.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
