Memorial services for Addison J. Powell, 22, Wellman, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Parkside Activities Center, Wellman. He died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, in Grand Lake, Colo., after a courageous fight with cancer.

Pastor Louis Goszleth officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Wellman Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Winding River Ranch.

Powell Funeral Home, Wellman, was in charge of arrangements. Messages may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.

Addison Jared Powell was born Oct. 23, 1987, the son of Shawn and Tonya (Rediger) Powell. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 2006. He was attending the University of Iowa and was ready to graduate from the College of Engineering.

He was a member of the Kalona Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed attending Iowa football games, cooking, playing classical guitar, playing tennis, intramural football and coaching younger children. He was a great role model for his brothers.

Powell is survived by his parents; five brothers and one sister, Breighen, Moriah, Jaemin, Canaan, Isaiahn and Mathyan Powell, all Wellman; a special friend, Christa Ravestein, Ankeny; his maternal grandparents, Larry and Wanda Rediger, Wellman; his paternal grandparents, Jerry and Jacque Powell, Williamsburg; three great-grandmothers, Maxine Conrad, Williamsburg; Rachel Powell, Wellman, and Ida Mullet, Kalona.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Simon and Martha Mullet, Sterling and Zola Rediger, Lewis Powell and Maurice Conrad.
