Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald E. Johnson, 77, Newhall, was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, New-hall. He died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, in Fredericksburg, Va., following a sudden illness. [Born 21 Jan 1933]

The Rev. Brian Dellaert officiated at the service.

Burial was at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery, Watkins.

Gerald E. Johnson was employed by Kinze Manufacturing for many years and was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Newhall.

Johnson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Johnson; one son and his wife, David and Tracey Johnson, Cedar Rapids; one daughter and her husband, Barbara and Dominic Grasso, Fredericksburg, Va.; seven grandchildren, Blake, Alexis, Ana, Chase, Isabella and Ava Grasso and Brandon Kohl, and three sisters, Betty Harbert, Doris Brown and Marlys Hopwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Stephen Johnson, and one grandson, Giovanni Grasso.
