Funeral Mass for Jean L. O’Connor, 71, formerly of the Oxford area, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Oxford.

She died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, Ill.

Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery near Oxford.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3816 Payspere Circle, Chicago, Ill. 60674.

Jean L. O’Connor was born May 25, 1939, in Shreveport, La., the daughter of Eugene L. and Violet L. (Palmer) Farmer.

Mrs. “O” retired in 2009 from Santa Maria del Popolo School, Mundelein, Ill., after more than 27 years of service. She had been a teacher’s aid, librarian and also facilitated the after school program at Santa Maria. She enjoyed playing penny slots, loved helping children and adored her grandchildren.

O’Connor is survived by her husband, Bernard “Barney” O’Connor; their children, Michael O’Connor and wife Tanya, and Kelly O’Connor; grandchildren, Lucas, Nicholas, R.J. and Kylie, and two brothers and their wives, William “Bill” and Sheila Farmer and Stanley and Jean Farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather, Carl Dalton.
