Funeral services for Kenneth R. Wauters, 62, Marengo, were held Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine. He died Dec. 9, 2010, at Marengo following a sudden illness.

Deacon Joe Behounek officiated at the service. Organist was Judy Parizek and vocalist was Anna Upah.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Belle Plaine, with military rites by American Legion Post 76, Marengo. Casket bearers were Ron Niebes, Chad Gillam, Dan Anderson, Steve Kromminga, Darren Roggentien and Mark Andresen. Honorary casket bearers were Gary Quinlan Sr., Brian Quinlan, Chad Wauters, Denny Albers, Lonnie Tanner, Charlie Wauters, Dallan Wauters and Gary Quinlan Jr.

Hrabak Funeral Home, Belle Plaine, was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Raymond Wauters was born June 3, 1948, at Belle Plaine, the son of Raymond and Margaret Boudonek Wauters. He graduated from Benton Community High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army from May 3, 1967, to Feb. 24, 1973.

He married Lori (Sassy) Quinlan Feb. 15, 1992, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Belle Plaine.

He spent his life as a farmer and in the agricultural field as owner of Wauters Seed Corn and Chemicals, Keystone. He had resided in Blairstown and moved to his present home in August 1999.

He was a member of the Marengo American Legion and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Marengo. He was a very loving husband and father and the best friend anyone could have.

Wauters is survived by his wife; one daughter, Melisssa Wauters; his mother, Margaret Wauters; two brothers and their wives, Charlie and Marsha Wauters and Dallan and Leona Wauters, and one sister-in-law, Kim Wauters.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Wayne Wauters.
