Funeral services for Shirley I. Seaman, 74, Colona, Ill., were held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Moline, Ill. She died Nov. 1, 2010, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill., following an extended illness. She gently passed from this world surrounded by her husband of 56 years and all five of her children.

Her greatest joys in life included her family, many friends and her ever faithful companion Boomer. She also enjoyed ceramics, playing games, plants, playing the flute and keyboard and her many Christian women groups. She collected deer items and angels.

She believed “Absent from the body, present with the Lord” with all her heart, working daily to be worthy of that promise. She looked forward to being united with family gone before and eagerly yet patiently awaits the arrival of loved ones still in this world.

Seaman is survived by her husband, Bill; her children and their spouses, Bonita and Michael Ullrich, Kittredge, Colo.; Vernon and Sarah, Owasso, Okla.; Carl and Wendym Taullulha Falls, Ga.; Nancy and Kent Pope, Williamsburg, Iowa, and Lee and Amanda, Colona, Ill. She was blessed with 19 grandchildren, Sarah, David, Christa, Jason, Nathan, Ben, Dan, Ashley, Jesse, Arielle, Katie, Will, Parker, Jonathan, Amanda, Rebecca, Ethan, Tyler and Kaitlyn, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents and granddaughter, Katie.

Shirley Irene Seaman, 74, of Colona passed away November 1, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3rd, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Ltd., 6601-38 Ave., Moline. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 4th, 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow services. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Shirley was born on July 7, 1936, in Richland Center, Wisconsin the daughter of Clifford and Leona Bowen Miller. She attended schools in Richland Center and graduated from Hillsboro High School. She married G. William “Bill” Seaman on September 3, 1955 at First Congregational Church in Hillsboro, Wisconsin.

Shirley was formerly employed at the University of Madison Hospital as a receptionist in the student infirmary. Upon starting a family she became a homemaker. She attended Christ Church in Colona and was involved in church and Christian organizations. She also enjoyed plants, flowers, crafts, ceramics, needlepoint, word games and traveling around the U.S. to visit family. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog Boomer.
