KEYSTONE: Milford H. Wardenburg, age 84, died Wednesday evening, September 27, 2006 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, October 2, 2006 at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone with Rev. Dr. James Eggert officiating. Interment will be held at the Keystone Cemetery with Graveside Military Rites conducted by Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post #107 of Keystone. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone from 3 to 7 PM on Sunday. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Milford was born July 26, 1922 at Williamsburg to Anton and Mary (Maas) Wardenburg. He served his nation in the US Navy from 1942 until 1946 during World War II.

On July 14, 1946 he married Ethel Feuerbach at St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1993.

Milford owned a construction business and for a number of years he owned and operated Milford's Tavern in Keystone. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Keystone, Merkel-Bockholt American Legion Post #107 of Keystone, the VFW, 40 & 8 #625 of Iowa, Tara Hills Country Club in Van Horne and a Carpenters Union. For 50 years he served as a volunteer with the Keystone Fire Department .

He is survived by his children, Gene (Bonnie) Wardenburg of Dysart, Wendy (Keith) Junge of Keystone, and Cathy (Jim) Buch of Belle Plaine; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; his sister, Barbara (Richard) Tritch of Sun City, AZ; his brother, Merle (Lorraine) Wardenburg of Scottsdale, AZ; his brothers-in-law, Donald Albers of Keystone and Art Schaefer of Marion; and his sisters-in-law, Grace Weise of Keystone, and Janet Feuerbach o Iowa City..

In addition to this parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant grandson and his sister, Lorene Schaefer.
