Funeral services for Fred “Whitey” Christensen, 56, Blairstown, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at the Blairstown Legion Hall. B died Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, at Marengo Memorial Hospital following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

The Rev. Robin Tyner officiated at the service.

Fred Christensen was born Aug. 13, 1954, at Cedar Rapids, the son of John and Geri (Merritt) Christensen. During Vietnam, he served his nation in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the M.J. Kirby American Legion Post 170, Blairstown.
He was employed as a contractor installer by Mediacom. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Christensen is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Kelly and Todd Sweet, Atkins; Jamie and Tim Miller and Jodi and Josh Wilkins, all Blairstown; his grandchildren, Keagan, McKenzie, Alex, Hailey, Brycen, Chloe, Dakota and Emma; his brothers and their wives, Mike and Pat Christensen, Keosauqua; Eric Christensen, Marengo, and Chris and Kayla Christensen, Blairstown, and one sister and her husband, Karen and John Skow, Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jace Wilkins, and his sister, Phyllis Christensen.
