Private family funeral services for “Gene” Lawrence Williams, Newhall, were held Thursday, Dec. 16, at Phillips Funeral Home, Vinton. He died Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a sudden illness.

The Rev. Jim Coyle officiated at the service.

Private committal services were held at St. John Cemetery near Newhall.

A memorial fund has been established.

Williams is survived by his wife, Kathy, whom he married June 2, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church; one son and his wife, Larry and Mary Williams, Morrison, Colo.; two daughters, Cindy Frazier and husband Leo, Cedar Rapids, and Lisa Williams, Newhall; one brother and his wife, Gary and Jayne Williams, Cedar Rapids; two brothers-in-law, Don Erland and wife Sharon, Houston, Texas, and Jon “Butch” Willer, Columbus, Neb., and his mother-in-law, Marcella Miller, Newhall.

His pride and joy were his grandkids, Dillon, Dakoda and Dayton Franzenburg; Cameron, Brayden and Drake Frazier; Jenna (Brandon) Owens and their children, Nick and Aubrey; Adam (Tami) Milbrant and Kali Milbrandt.

He was preceded in death by his twins, Greg and Sheri; his parents, Clyde and Maxine Williams, and one brother-in-law, Gary Erland.
