Roger L. Lown, 57, Folsom, Calif., died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English, is in charge of arrangements.

Roger Lee Lown was born July 19, 1953, in Sigourney, the son of Stanley Lee and Bevaline M. Stewart Lown. He grew up near North English and graduated from English Valleys High School, North English, in 1971. He later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.

He married Catherine Ann Conner June 4, 1971, in North English. They lived in Cedar Rapids, Cedar Falls, Ottumwa and Iowa City before moving to California.

He worked for the Farm Credit System in agricultural banking for over 32 years, retiring in July 2007. His favorite pastimes included watching movies, playing with his grandchildren, whom he adored, boating and taking care of his yard. He was also an avid reader.

Lown is survived by his wife; one son and his wife, Brian and Natasha Lown, Alpharetta, Ga.; one daughter and her husband, Jaime and Jerome Young, Folsom, Calif.; four grandchildren, Gregory and Julia Lown and Reece and Riley Young; his parents, Stanley and Bevaline Lown, South English, and three brothers, Randy Lown, Racine, Wis.; Ron and Kendra Lown, Walford, and Rick Lown, Iowa City.
