Memorial services for Karen E. Grimm, 68, Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of rural Deep River, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 11, at the Deep River Community Center. She died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in Arizona.

Shirley Van Dee will officiate at the service. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 10, at the Deep River Community Center.

A memorial fund has been established.

Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.klosterfuneralhome.com.

Karen Erlene Grimm was born March 5, 1942, in Williamsburg, the daughter of Harold and Eleanor Newkirk Kelting.

She attended local Lutheran schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960.

She married Kenneth Grimm June 7, 1973, in Las Vegas, Nev.

She was a beautician in Deep River and Millersburg for 30 years. The couple also owned and operated the Livingroom Greenhouse, Deep River. In 1990, they moved to Arizona, where she worked with Allstate Insurance until 2000.

She was an awesome wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed floral arranging for weddings, bowling, playing cards and socializing with her friends. She was an avid sports fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes, Phoenix Suns, Diamondbacks and the Chicago Cubs.

Grimm is survived by her husband; one son and his wife, Todd and Sara Grimm, North English; two daughters and their husbands, Nicole Sue and James Hartman, Montezuma, and Lauri and David Guzman, Fresno, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Darlo and Diana Kelting, Grinnell, and one sister and her husband, Lanette and Lyle Crow, Oxford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Kristi Neil; two brothers, Arlen “Buck” Kelting and Garth Kelting; one brother-in-law, Dean Wright, and one sister-in-law, Norma Kelting.
