Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 19 Aug 1887, p3.

DIED:--At Lauray, Mo., Aug. 8, 1887, and interred in St. Michael's cemetery Green twp., Iowa county, Iowa, Aug. 10, 1887, MAGGIE SHUELL, infant daughter of John G. and Minnie Shuell, aged ten months.

John G. Shuell, brother of Dr. Shuell of Parnell, has been during the last two years engaged in railroading; and was at the time of the death of his babe, foreman of an important contract on the Santa Fe extension, and his future prospects looked bright.

But his darling Maggie dies; and he returns home with the lifeless form of his loved one "to sleep the sleep that knows no waking," in the old cemetery of St. Michael's, by the side of dear ones gone before.

"This life is but an empty dream;" "She is not dead by sleepeth;" "Be it ever so humble there is no place like home,"--how many mournful threnodies have not those quotations inspired.

Mozart and Wagner and Liszt could touch the lyre and evolve therefrom doleful cadences; yet their music could never touch the popular heart like those words of the erratic genius Payne: "Home, sweet home, there's no place like home!" We trust little Maggie has returned home; yest to that home among the angels. Though the spirit of the babe wended its flights to the bosom of teh Savior from the sunny climes of Missouri; yet her mortal remains have a home at St. Michael's and her memory shall ever live so long as loving friends are able to weave immortelles to decorate her grave. A.G.
