Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 12 Aug 1887, p3.

DIED:--Tuesday Aug. 9th 1887, at the residence of Mr. R.P. Butler, MRS. OAKES, aged about 86 years.

Mrs. Oakes came here a few years ago to make her home with her daughter Mrs. Butler. She was a most estimable lady, loved by her friends, and held in high esteem by all who new her.

After a sojourn of over four-score years in this world of toil and care she has gone to bask in the smiles of glad recognition of friends gone before, to live on in a land where all is joy and happiness, where age and infirmities are unknown. The friends have the sympathy of all in this time of sorrow and bereavement.

She was an active christain for over 60 years, one whose life corresponded with her profession, and departed this life with entire faith in the blessed promises of her redeemer.
