Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 12 Aug 1887, p3.

In Memoriam.
-----
DIED:--August 7th, 1887, MR. THOMAS CALLAN, aged about 68 years.

Mr. Callan was a native of South Ireland, emigrated to this country in 1854. He resided on a farm in New York for several years, then moved to Iowa and located in the vicinity of what is now Parnell. His sickness was only of a few days duration, but before he departed this life he had the rights and blessings of his church conferred upon him, and passed over into the unseen with perfect faith in a gloriuos and happy immortality on the shores of that blessed "Summer Land."

Mr. Callan, although engaged at the time of his death in merchantile business, spent nearly all his life upon the farm, and being reliable, truthful and upright in all his dealing he was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was never married but made his home with his brother.
