Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 3 June 1887.

OBITUARIES.
MR. D.E. ROBERTS departedthis life at his late residence Thursday May 26, 1887, aged 61 years.

His native state was Pennsylvania where he resided for 40 years. He then removed with his family to Old Man's Creek Settlement and after a residence of 8 years he located in 1874 on the farm 8 miles east of this city where he resided at his death.

We pay but a just tribute to his memory when we say that his character was above reproach. Consistent in walk and conversation, patient unpretentious, he was a man of more than ordinary intelligence, of broad sympathies, one who made friends and kept them, being somewhat reserved he had a peculiar enjoyment in the friendship of those with whom he became intimate. His kindness of spirit took pleasure in contributing to the comfort and happiness of others, he was exceedingly loyal to those who reciprocated his kindness and devoted to those closely associated with him. As a citizen he was loved and trusted, in his family he was very kind and affectionate and left them but tender memories behind.

The widow, sons and daughters mourn the loss of a husband and father, but they should rejoice that Divine Inspiration has written his epitaph, "The Righteous shall be in everlasting rememberance."
