Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 20 May 1887.

Mr. J.P. Hunt of Victor, committed suicide at his residence last Monday morning by taking bromide. What terrible thoughts must have passed through his mind as he contemplated the fearful leap out into the unknown, and that too by his own act. As he looked at the starry heavens, while all the world was wrapped in slumber what thoughts must have passed through his mind as he came face to face with death. Mr. Hunt was a good hearted active busines man and the deep griefs that prompted the rash act will probably never he fully known. The following is the finding of the coroner.
Victor, Iowa, May 16, 87.

At the Coroner's viewing of the body of J.P. Hunt now lying dead in the house of said J.P. Hunt, I am satisfied that he came to his death by an over dose of bromide, administered by his own hands, on the morning of May 16, 1887, at 6:50 o'clock. J.M. LYON, Coroner.
