Services will be Wednesday for Reginald Frank Plagmann, who died Tuesday. He was 86.
Mr. Plagmann was born in Marengo, Iowa.
He served in the US Army for 26 years, retiring as a chief warrant officer. During his military career he was a Signal Corps instructor for seven years at West Point and also served with the post-World War II Occupational Forces in Heidelburg, Germany. He retired from the Presidio of San Francisco in 1954.
A licensed pilot, his lifelong passion was flying. He owned and operated a 1950 Cessna 172 antique airplane based at Watsonville Airport.
He also enjoyed playing pool at the Trade Winds Park Clubhouse in Capitola, where he lived.
Mr. Plagmann is survived by his wife of 57 years, Margie [Grimes] Plagmann of Capitola; daughters Jean Yamasaki of Aromas and Judy Gailey of Santa Cruz; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 am Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Santa Cruz, 411 Roxas St., Santa Cruz.
A military honor guard service at Soquel Cemetery will follow at 12:30 pm.
