Funeral services for Charles “Bob” Hanchett, 94, Sigourney, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Sigourney Baptist Church. He died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

Burial was in the North English Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Hanchett was born May 8, 1916, in North English, the son of Charles Mason and Ada Marshall Hanchett. He graduated from North English High School in 1934.

He married Doris Eilleen Caskey Dec. 24, 1938. He drove the tank wagon for Uroil, owned Case Produce and Implement, farmed in the North English and Sigourney areas and was a general contractor in Sigourney until retiring. He was a member of the Sigourney Odd Fellows.

Hanchett is survived by his wife; four children and their spouses, Gary and Connie Hanchett, Deep River; Linda Hanchett, Sigourney; Ronald and Teresa Hanchett, Ames, and John and Jill Hanchett, Sigourney; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern Dyson, Sigourney, and one brother, Keith Hanchett, Owasso, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, John Logan Hanchett, and one brother, Ivan Hanchett.
