Memorial services for Juanita “Jean” Smith, 83, Davenport, formerly of Marengo, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, in the Kahl Home Chapel. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Nov. 29, 2010.

Juanita Smith graduated from Columbus Junction High School, the University of Iowa and Mercy College of Nursing. She spent most of her adult life as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital, Davenport. The family later moved to Marengo, where she was very active with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Her greatest pleasure came from time loving and giving to family and peaceful moments reading scripture.

She was a caring and loving mother of her children.

Smith is survived by her husband of 62 years, Morris, and her loving children, Patricia Albright, Mark Smith, Jeffrey Smith, Rebecca Jones, Russell Smith, Kevin Smith, Cathy Hughes, David Smith, Mary Duncan, Lisa Adolphson, Paul Smith, William Smith and Andrew Smith; 42 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard Utter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Claire and Ralph Utter, and two sisters, Elizabeth Eberlein and Mary Hafner.
