DAVID MUNSON, 45, DIES IN CAR ACCIDENT

Funeral services for David L. Munson, 45, Conroy, were held Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 1:30pm at the Uhlmann Funeral home, Williamsburg. The Rev. George Bachman of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg, officiated.

Munson died Sunday morning, Nov. 3, 1985 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, from injuries received earlier in the day in a one-car accident in Tama County, three miles east of Chelsea on county road E-66.

Organ solos played by Carol K. Uhlmann, Williamsburg, were “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.”

A cremation committal was planned for Oak Hill cemetery, Belle Plaine.

The parish rosary was recited at 8pm Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the Uhlmann Funeral home which was in charge of arrangements.

Memories may be given to the Williamsburg fire department.

David Lee Munson was born Jan. 28, 1940 at Belle Plaine, the son of LaVerne and Helen Munson. He attended the Belle Plaine schools.

He married Frances Livingston, Williamsburg, in 1959 at All Saints Catholic church, Cedar Rapids. They were divorced in 1980.

On May 9, 1981 he married Betty Jo Van Dee at the Methodist Church, North Liberty.

For several years he operated the Dinner Bell café, Williamsburg, and later was a self-employed auto mechanic. Most recently he was employed as a mechanic at Simmons Motor company, Marengo.

Munson was a former member of the Williamsburg fire department and was one of the first emergency medical technicians with the Iowa county ambulance service when it originated in July 1974.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jo; two sons, Richard, Williamsburg, and David Lee, Jr. Conroy. Three daughters, Pamela (Mrs. James) Boles and Christina,, both of Williamsburg, and Sheila Munson, Oakland, Calif.; also his mother, Mrs. Helen Munson, Conroy; two brothers, Wayne, Campbell, Calif.; Dennis, Sunnyvale, Calif.’ and a sister, Cheryl (Mrs. Francis) Berlandi, Winchester, Mass.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Richard, who died in 1984.
