Adolph Fant, 79, of 1820 Western Dr. SW, died Friday in St. Luke’s Hospital following a long illness. Services: 3pm Monday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home from 4 to 8 pm today and at the chapel after 2pm Monday.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly; one son, Dennis of Indianola; three daughters, Barbara Dighton of Mesa, Ariz., Karon Kolek of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Kathy Long of Dallas; five sisters, Ruth Imhoff of Center Point, Elvena Hopp of Conroy, Carrie Wandling of Marengo, Dorothy Plagmann of Norway and Annie Heitman of Williamsburg; two stepdaughters, Caryl Hagan of Watkins and Cynthia Kirkhart of Ottumwa; and four stepsons, David Smith of Vallejo, Calif., and Clarence, Ronald and Bill Garrels, all of Hedrick.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.

Adolph was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Williamsburg. He married Lucille Wilson Dec. 24, 1939, in Norwalk, Iowa. She died Aug. 27, 1976. He married Beverly Garrels Aug. 8, 1987, in Cedar Rapids. Adolph worked at Collins for 10 years, retiring in 1976 and was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Axel and Minnie Fant; two daughters, Lorraine and Arlene; two brothers, John and Carl; one sister, Mary; and one grandson, Timothy.

The Rev. Paul A. Scheidt will officiate.
