Obituary

Died, at the family residence in Pilot Township October 3, 1898, Mr. Anthony Slager, aged 58 years, 4 months and 24 days.

Mr. Slager was born in Bohemiah and came to this county when he was 22 years of age. Four years later he was married and to this union there were born ten children, one died several years ago, leaving the wife and nine children to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.

A short funeral service was held at the family residence, after which the body was taken to the cemetery near the Ohio Church and placed in the cold grave to sleep on until the resurrection morning. The family and sympathizing friends then went into the church and the pastor, Rev. Pickett, conducted the regular funeral services, pointing out the certainty of death and extending consolation and tender sympathy to the bereaved friends.

Mr. Slager was a good citizen and during his long residence of 28 years in Pilot Township, had made many friends who now mourn the death of a kind neighbor and true friend.
