Former Resident of this locality dies at Marengo
_____A. Livingstone, age 78 years, passed away at his home in Marengo at midnight, Monday, after suffering from rheumatism for twenty-five years.
Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, conducted by Rev. H.B. Allen. Members of the Odd Fellow and Rebekah lodges attended in a body and services at the grave were conducted by the Odd Fellows.

Obituary SketchAngus Livingstone was born in Perthsh, Scotland, November 14, 1848. He was the last of a family of five, two brothers and two sisters having passed on before him.
He was united in marriage to Miss Amelia Bond in North Wales, Nov. 15, 1883.
On Easter Monday, 1884, they started for America. Having reached Marengo May 7, 1884, they located on a farm southwest of Williamsburg. After renting six or seven years they bought the place which the family still owns in the same neighborhood. After living there twenty-two years they moved to Marengo March 1, 1915, and have lived here continuously since.
They became the parents of four children, Edward, who lives on the home place, Mrs. Amelia Wiggins of Aledo, Ill., Mrs. Mary J. Davis of Cedar, Iowa, and Mrs. Annie Becker of Marengo.
They and their children all united with the Presbyterian church of Williamsburg 22 years ago.
Mr. Livingstone was a charter member of the IOOF Lodge of Williamsburg and retained his membership there.
He possessed the best characteristics of Scotchmen, diligence, thrift and friendliness. He had an alert mind, a kind heart and a devout spirit. He took great interest in the work of farming, was fond of stock and especially skilled in caring for sheep. He thought much upon religious subjects, as the tattered condition of [….] Christian gentleman, a lover of peace and a doer of good.
He suffered seriously from rheumatism for 25 years. He bore this affliction with almost perfect patience and perseverance, carrying a brave and […] spirit though all. The progressing the disease was very gradual, bringing his life to a tranquil end at midnight, Monday, March 14.
He is survived by his wife and children and grandchildren and several nephews and nieces living in Scotland, Marengo and […].
