Obituary.

Died at his home in English township, March 3, 1899, Mr. Laughlin Murrin, aged 73 years, 2 months and 2 days.
He was born in County Kildare, Ireland, but came to this country in his early boyhood days without acquaintances or money, but he soon made friends and prospered. He was married in 1851 at Watertown, N. Y., and moved to Iowa in 1856, locating on a farm in English township, and for 48 years he has resided in the same community, having the esteem and confidence of all who knew him. His wife, a grand, noble woman, and his two sons and four daughters survive him and mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. Two sons have preceded him to the spirit land. His children who are living all reside in Iowa county, and are Mrs. Ed. Wagner, Charles Murrin, Mrs. T. R. Dillon, Mrs. John Faas Jr., William Murrin and Mrs. M. Kelly; all of them were at his bedside during his sickness and death. He was a christian gentleman and had the rites of his church administered to him before his death.
A good man called home at a ripe old age, one that had been true in every relation in life; as a husband, as a father, as a neighbor, as a citizen, as a Catholic he was honorable and upright and has only entered a higher and purer life; it is true that we call it death, but in reality it is the beginning of life, a life that will never end.
Father McCarville conducted the funeral services at the Millersburg Catholic church, preaching a most excellent sermon.
The family wishes to thank those who so kindly and sympathetically assisted them during his sickness and burial, hoping that if sickness and death ever enters their homes that they too may find friends equally as kind.
