Otto Hopp, 83

Conroy: Funeral services for Otto C. Hopp, 83, West Branch, formerly of Conroy, were held at 2 pm Saturday, March 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy. He died Thursday; March 10, 1994, at University Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following a lengthy illness.

The Rev. George Clausen officiated at the service.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Keith Stanerson, Larry Stanerson, Gary Hopp, Marvin Hopp, Arthur Dermody and Wayne Imhoff. Honorary casket bearers were David Gerard, Glenn Gerard, Kurt Kaeser, Allen Hopp, Ben Hopp, Aaron Hopp and Adam Hopp, all grandsons.

Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg was in charge of arrangements.

Otto Carl Hopp was born Feb. 27, 1911, near Conroy, the son of William and Rose Wille Hopp. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Conroy, April 9, 1911. He attended Trinity’s parochial school and was confirmed April 5, 1925.

He married Elvena Fant May 4, 1937, in the Trinity parsonage.

Hopp lived most of his life in the Conroy area where he worked in construction. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and had served as a church trustee.

He and his wife had recently moved to West Branch to live with their daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Kent Kaeser.

Hopp is survived by his wife; one son, Harold, Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Marlene Schropp, Iowa City; and Judy Kaeser, West Branch; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elmer Hopp and Earl Hopp, Williamsburg, and Herbert Hopp, Ladora and one sister, Alice Kleinmeyer, Williamsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert; one sister, Helen Hopp, and three brothers, Wilfred, Clarence and Alfred.
