A Sudden Death.

Grim Death brings great sorrow to Mr. Peter Morrin and Children.

Last Saturday Mrs. Peter Morrin received a dispatch stating that her father who resides near Muscatine was very sick, thought to be near deaths door, and for her to come at once. There being no train Sunday she in company with her sister, Mrs. Shanahan started Monday, arriving there Monday evening. This (Thursday) morning Mr. Morrin received a dispatch stating that his wife had died suddenly. It was a terrible shock, Mr. Morrin and children are almost distracted with grief. Mrs. Morrin was in good health when she left here, and the dispatch announcing her death was the first intimation that Mr. Morrin had that there was anything the matter with her. The body will arrive here tomorrow, and the funeral services will be held Saturday.

A Sad Bereavement.

Death of Mrs. Peter Morrin and her Father, Mr. B. Cashman

It was a sad message that sped over the wires from Muscatine to Williamsburg, shortly before midnight Jan 2, conveying to Peter Morrin, the heart-rending intelligence that his wife had died suddenly of apoplexy at the home of her brother, Thomas Cashman, in Seventy Six. Two days previous she and her sister Mrs. Shannahan, had left Williamsburg for Muscatine, in response to a telegram informing them of the serious illness of their father, Mr. Cashman who made his home with his son Thomas. Mrs. Morrin was a picture of health and strength as with quick, lively step she boarded the train that beautiful winter's day, the last of the old year. How hard it is to think that we shall not meet on earth again the kind, good lady whom we saw looking so well that day, whose face wore a smile when she said good bye, though her heart was pained at parting from loved ones, and by the fear that her father might die ere she reached him. Arrived at their destination the daughters found their aged parent whose eyes had seen the sun of nearly ninety summers, on the verge of dissolution. At his bedside they watched and waited, doing all that lay in their power to make his last hours on earth comfortable as possible, little thinking that before their father's form weary and bent under the weight of years would be consigned to Mother Earth one of themselves would be resting in the abodes of Death. But God whose ways are unsearchable, but who does all things well, called the daughter before the father, Wednesday evening January 2nd after a very brief illness, while her children lay in quiet slumber miles away, dreaming of the happy times they expected when mamma came home, Mrs. Morrin breathed her last. Three hours later her aged father unconscious of his daughter's death laid down the burden of life. The news of Mrs. Morrin's death was a terrible shock to her family. No husband and wife were ever kinder or more devoted to each other than Peter and Johanna Morrin. No mother was ever more attached to her children than she. Her home and her family were her world. Twenty years ago she married the loved companion who mourns her untimely demise. Strong in the confidence and buoyancy of youth they started out to battle with the world. By hard and honest toil they had acquired a goodly amount of wealth. Seven children were born to them, six of whom are left to mourn a mother's death.
Thursday January 3, Mrs. Morrin's remains arrived in Williamsburg and were conveyed thence to her late residence three miles southwest of town. The funeral was held the next day. High Mass of Requiem was celebrated by Father White who also preached an excellent sermon. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at Williamsburg. The day following Mrs. Morrin's funeral, her fathers remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery in Seventy Six. -- Iowa Catholic Messenger.
