Funeral services for Richard L. “Dick” Duffy, 67, Marengo, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. He died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

The Rev. Douglas Morton officiated at the service. Inurnment will be at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, was in charge of arrangements. Richard Lee Duffy was born May 25, 1943, in Marshalltown, the son of Clarence William and Dorothy Bryant Duffy. He attended State Center schools and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1960. He married Jeanne Ellen Coffland Sept. 3, 1966, in the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He worked for Amana Appliances, Bush Hog, Krauss and retired from Centro Inc. as a warehouse supervisor.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo. He was a baseball catcher and played on numerous teams. He also enjoyed riding horses, hunting and spending time with his faithful companion, AJ.

Duffy is survived by his wife; two children, Susan Duffy, Blairstown, and David Duffy, Marengo, and siblings and their spouses, Robert and JoAnne Duffy, Clive; Sandy and Vern Gerard, Guernsey, and Pete and Ellen Duffy, Garner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister-in-law, Dorene Duffy; his grandparents and his father-in-law, Raymond Coffland.
