Mrs. Slager, 88, Dies, Was County Native

Emma Slager, 88, wife of the late George C. Slager and a native of Iowa County, died at 9pm Tuesday, Apr. 4, 1972 at Marengo memorial hospital where she had been hospitalized a month.

The Rev. H.H. Foxworthy officiated at the services held at 10:30am Friday, Apr 7, 1972 at McAninch chapel, Victor. Casket bearers were Marvin Read, Rudy Meyer, Merne Anderson, Richard Hull, Merrill Norden and Alfred Fontinel with burial in the IOOF cemetery, Victor.

The deceased was born on a farm in Iowa County Nov. 1, 1883, the youngest of five children of Henry H. and Anna Meyer. On Dec. 20, 1905 she married George C. Slager and they lived in the Victor community all but five years of their married life. He died in 1953 and she moved into her present home in Victor.

She is survived by her daughter Alma Whitaker, Oskaloosa; a granddaughter Kay Horn, Glen Ellyn, Ill., two great grandsons Gregory and Douglas Horn.
