Kate Elizabeth Slager was born on a farm in Pilot Township, Iowa County, on the 17th day of February 1889, where she lived and grew to womanhood.

On October the 12th, 1910, she was united in marriage to Wm. Smith Jr. She departed this life at their home in Sumner Township, Iowa County, on the 21st day of June 1911, aged 22 years, 4 months and 4 days.

The funeral was held from the Ohio church on June 23rd at 2:30pm and was conducted by Rev. Linder. The text used, which had been selected by the deceased, is found in Revelations 21-4. Interment in the Slager family plot in the Ohio cemetery.

Kate was one of those splendid young women with a very amiable disposition. She had a very large circle of friends and was loved by all who knew her.

She leaves to mourn her sad loss besides her many friends, a husband, an aged mother, four sisters and four brothers.

Their many friends extend to these sorrowing relatives their sincere sympathies in this their time of deep sorrow and bereavement.
