Funeral services for LaVera Meyer, 78, Cedar Rapids, were held at 10am, Tuesday, May 27, at Turner Chapel West, Cedar Rapids. She died Saturday, May 24, 1997, At Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness.

The Rev. Fran Schultz officiated at the service.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.

LaVera Meyer was born April 8, 1919, in Iowa County, the daughter of John and Hazel Slager.

She married Robert D. Meyer May 10, 1946, at Lincoln, Neb. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Meyer is survived by one daughter, Connie Mitvalsky, and husband Jim, Cedar Rapids; one son, Robert Meyer, Cedar Rapids; one brother, Dale Slager, Springville and three grandchildren, Mia Meyer and Cassandra and Whitney Mitvalsky.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and two brothers, Carroll and Eldon Slager.
