Lena Millie Slager was born in Iowa County, Iowa, January 8, 1886, and died at her home near Guernsey, Iowa, October 11, 1920, at the age of 34 years, 9 months and three days. She grew to womanhood in Iowa County and on January 12, 1905, was united in marriage to Frank Floerchinger who with three children survive her.

In April 1919 she united with the United Methodist church of Guernsey and at once became a useful and valued member. Mrs. Floerchinger was a heroic spirit, without complaint she bore long days and months of suffering. She was ever a faithful wife and loving mother. Her untimely death is a sad bereavement of the family and a distinct loss to the church and entire community. Besides her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her death, four brothers and three sisters and a host of friends and neighbors.
