Funeral services for Elaine M. Lortz, 88, Williamsburg, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Williamsburg. She died Sunday, June 27, 2010, surrounded by family members at Colonial Manor, Amana, following an extended illness.

The Rev. James Parks officiated at the service. Burial was in Pilot Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg. Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Building Fund or Essence of Life Hospice. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.klosterfuneralhome.com.

Elaine Mae Lortz was born Sept. 7, 1921, in Pilot Township, Iowa County, the daughter of Ralph Albert and Rose Caroline Stahl Lortz. She attended the Pilot Grove School.

She cooked for the Little Chicago Restaurant, Williamsburg, for many years. She was an active member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Williamsburg, and participated in the Wesleyan Service Guild.

Lortz is survived by two nieces, Bonnie Hull and husband Bob, Cedar Rapids, and Joyce Lortz, Conroy; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Gary Lortz, Roger Lortz and Paul Lortz and families, Amy Finnegan and family, Pam Glandorf, Mark Glandorf and Dan Glandorf and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Malcom Lortz and wife Ethel; one nephew, Larry Lortz, in 2003, and a nephew-in-law, Mervin Glandorf, in 1988.
