Charles Albert Klever was born near Williamsburg, Iowa County, Iowa on July 31st, 1885 and died January 14, 1909 at the youthful age of 23 years, 5 months and 15 days. He spent nearly all of his life on the old homestead with his parents in this vicinity. The last year of his life was spent traveling in quest of his health, having traveled as far west as Denver, Colorado and south into Missouri. But as death is no respecter of persons or places, he departed this life near Linneus, Mo., while sojourning among strangers. His remains were brought back to his home by loving hands.

Born and brought up by one of our most prominent, worth Christian families, he learned to remember his Creator in the days of his youth.

He was baptized in infancy and united with the Methodist church at Pilot Grove at the age of 16 and in answer to his conscience, desiring to walk closer to God, feeling that his attitude to his Maker would be more complete and perfect, he was baptized September 1, 1908, by immersion and united with the Christian Church at Pleasant Point, Mo.

Brother Klever has not only made a good record, but very good in the few days that were allotted to him on earth. He not only lived an exemplary Christian life, taking more than ordinary interest in church and Sunday school, but in his youth he regarded good language and pure moral life. He had especially a kind and loving disposition coupled with a good social grace that surrounded him with many friends. Industrious and ever willing to lend a helping hand. That a good Christian young man has gone from this world is felt by all. He leaves a father, mother, three sisters and two brothers to mourn their loss, one brother having preceded him to the spirit world. But their loss is his eternal gain. He has gone home to receive his crown of glory where all is peace, joy, love and happiness around the celestial throne.

Funeral services were conducted by the write assisted by Rev. McVay at the Pilot Grove church from the following words: “Behold now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is"-1 John 3:2.

The large concourse of people that attended the funeral attests the regard with which he was held. We laid his remains away to rest in the Pilot Grove Cemetery.
