Fred Klever, 87, Dies Suddenly Saturday at Nursing Home

Fred Klever, 87, a resident of this community all his life, died suddenly Saturday night at the Yearian nursing home, where he had been a resident a year and a half.

He had been engaged in farming all his life until his retirement in 1945, when he moved to Williamsburg.

Son of Detlef and Maria Vohs Klever, he was born near Williamsburg May 20, 1876. He attended the rural schools in Pilot Township. He was a lifelong member of the Pilot Grove Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Jones funeral home, Rev. John A. Robinson, pastor of St. Paul’s Methodist church, officiating. Music for the service was provided by Mrs. Robert Menary and Mrs. Brad Furman, with Miss Viola Dubishar at the organ. Pallbearers were Truman Lortz, W. A. Poulson, Merlin Stahl, Maynard Stark and Arnold Walter. Burial was in Pilot Grove cemetery.

Surviving are one son, Alfred Klever of Williamsburg; two daughters: Mrs. Thomas J. (Mable) Jones of Williamsburg and Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Sperry of Cedar Rapids; also a sister, Mrs. Lena Goodman of Williamsburg. His wife preceded him in death in 1962.
