MRS. JOHN C. KLEEVER

Rebecca Lane was born in the state of Illinois on September 18, 1857, where she spent her girlhood days. When she was 15 years of age she came with her parents to live in Iowa County, Iowa. 41 years ago the 25th of last August, she was united in marriage to John C. Kleever. To them were born 7 children, 5 of which are living. Freddie died in 1888 at the age of 11 years and Charley in 1908, at the age of 23.

Mrs. Kleever lived over 40 years in Pilot Township. During this period her life spoke of her usefulness as a woman; her devotion as a mother and her faithfulness as a wife; more than this she was an earnest Christian woman. She united with the Christian Church when she was 17 years old and later entered the fellowship of the Pilot Grove Church, where she proved a loyal member for 28 years. One year ago today Mr. and Mrs. Kleever left the farm to spend their remaining days apart from the heavy work of the farm, which their health would no longer permit. They moved to Williamsburg and before one year had passed, she moved on to the city whose builder and maker is God. For weeks she had suffered much and we are comforted that she has been released from this, her life of much affliction, to the one in which there is no more pain.

She leaves to miss her, her devoted husband and five children: Mrs. Chas. Klein, of Marengo, Iowa; Mrs. Axel Faunt (Fant) of Pilot Township; William Kleever of Pilot Township; Mrs. Henry Hofmaster, Marengo, Iowa; Lewis Kleever of Williamsburg, Ia.; also 23 grand children, besides one brother John Lane of Meadville, Mo., and three sisters, Mrs. Nave Row of Meadville, Mo.; Mrs. Katherine Clemens, Springfield, Ill., and Elizabeth Robinson of Portland, Oregon.

The funeral services were held at the home in Williamsburg and at Pilot Grove Church at 1 pm Friday, February 27th, conducted by Rev. Rex of Williamsburg and Rev. Cole of Osceola, Iowa. Interment was made in Pilot Grove Cemetery.
