Walter Klever, 85

Funeral services for Walter W. Klever, 85, Marengo, will be held at 10:30 am today, Thursday, Jan. 11, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001, at University Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The Rev. Russ Burnett will officiate at the service.

Burial will be in Pilot Grove Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Casket bearers will be George Kinzenbaw, Gary Funte, Smiley Mouchka, Bob Olson, Dwain Wolter and Ray Storck.

A memorial fund has been established.

Walter William Klever was born Sept 2, 1915, in Iowa County, the son of Williams and Sarah Reed Klever. He attended Pilot Grove Township schools. He worked as a farm hand for his brother Virgil until 1961, at which time he moved to Chicago, Ill. There he worked as a shipping clerk at Armstrong Tool Factory. He retired in 1993 and returned to Marengo.

Klever is survived by one brother, Virgil Klever, Marengo; one sister, Mary McCammant, Millersburg; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, which include Teresa Grimm, Marengo and Rick Klever, Amana, who assisted Walter in his later years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Louis; a twin sister who died in infancy, and three sisters, Edith Klever, Lucille McCammant and Frances Meyer.
