Walter W. Klever, 85, died Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001, in University Hospitals, Iowa City, after an extended illness. Services: 10:30 am, Thursday, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, by the Rev. Russ Burnett. Burial: Pilot Grove Cemetery, rural Williamsburg. Friends may call from 4 to 8 pm today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a brother, Virgil or Marengo and a sister, Mary McCammant of Millersburg.

Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, which include Teresa Grimm of Marengo and Rick Klever of Amana, who assisted Walter in his later years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Louis, a twin sister who died in infancy; and three additional sisters, Edith Klever, Lucille McCammant and Frances Meyer.

Walter William Klever was born Sept 2, 1915, in Iowa County, Iowa, the son of William and Sarah Reed Klever. He received his education in the Pilot Grove township schools. He worked as a farm hand for his brother Virgil until 1961, when he moved to Chicago, where he was a shipping clerk at Armstrong Tool Factory. He retired in 1993 and returned to Marengo.

A memorial fund has been established.
