Elvin Mumm, 82, Dies At Hospital

Funeral services for Elvin R. Mumm, 82, Williamsburg, were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 1:30pm, at St. Paul's United Methodist church. The Rev. A.Harold Sparks, Williamsburg, officiated.

Mumm died about 7pm Saturday, Feb. 11, 1984 at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, where he had been taken that morning.

Annette(Mrs. David)Kruse was organist. Soloist Barbara(Mrs. Glenn)Dennler sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Going Down the Valley."

Ushers were Joe Evans and Arnold Dubishar.

Burial was in the Pilot Grove cemetery, Pilot township, southwest of Williamsburg.

Honorary casket bearers were Eldon Yearian, Elmer Moser, Robert L. Hanson, Floyd Klever, Robert Durr, Willliamsburg area; and Everette Lortz, North English.

Casket bearers were grandsons, Larry Caskey, Arthur Landuyt, Williamsburg; Kenneth Caskey, Oxford; Rolland Schnell, Sully; Allen Mumm, Troy Grove, Ill; and Joel Mumm, Earlville, Ill.

Elvin R.(Mick)Mumm was born Aug. 8,1901 in Pilot township, southwest of Williamsburg, the son of Frank and Mary Klever Mumm. He atttended the rural school in Pilot township.

On Feb. 11, 1925 he was married to Erma Dubishar at the Methodist church parsonage, Williamsburg, by the Rev. Druse.

Following their marriage they farmed in Pilot township until about 1950 when they moved to 901 Elm Street, Williamsburg. He became a resident at the Williamsburg care center in January 1983.

He was a lifetime member of the Methodist church and for many years was a member of the Knights of Pythias lodge and the Lions club, Williamsburg. After moving to town he was employed by the city of Williamsburg for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Erma, a son Melvin, Earlville, Ill., and a daughter, Phyllis (Mrs. Norman)Caskey, Williamsburg, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Arthur, who died May 18, 1969 and Ralph, Aug. 29, 1975.
