Mabel Jones, 91

Funeral services for Mabel M. Jones, 91, Williamsburg, were held at 10:30 am Monday, June 30, at Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. She died Friday, June 27, 1997, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo, following a long illness.

The Rev. James Stewart officiated at the service.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Williamsburg. Casket bearers were James Epley, Ivan Kahler, Willard Huedepohl, Orlen Imhoff, Jon Sperry, Garry Voss, Dan Martinson, Ken McMillan and Doug Brown.

Mabel M. Jones was born Oct. 3, 1905, in Pilot Township near Williamsburg, the daughter of Fred and Anna Slager Klever. She attended Pilot Grove country school and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1924.

She married Thomas J. Jones Nov. 11, 1930, in Grinnell. She was a resident of Williamsburg all her life. She was a member of the Congregational Church, then First Presbyterian Church following their merger, and was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Jones is survived by one son, Philip, Williamsburg, and one sister, Mildred Sperry, Lisbon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1981, and one brother, Alfred Klever.
