Leslie Wayne Shaull, age 90, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at home in Ladora, Iowa. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Ladora United Methodist Church, Ladora with Rev. James Davis and Rev. John Shaull officiating. Visitation: 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 14, 2010 at Ladora United Methodist Church, Ladora. Internment will be in Ohio Cemetery, rural Ladora. Memorials may be contributed to the Ladora United Methodist Church. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements. He is survived by a sister, Kathryn George of Fairfax; his special friend, Pauline DeSmet of Victor; and nieces and nephews: Bill Feller (Sharlee), Carole Rathjen, and Robert Sims all of Ladora, Karen Duncalf of Van Horne, Janice Waddell (Larry), Deb Kruse, and Carol Krakow (Dale) all of Marengo, Chuck Shaull (Dena) of Iowa City, Larry W. Shaull (Dede), DeLora Madorin (Kevin), Kathy Larson, Beverly Dayle Lathem, Rodney Shaull, and Larry J. Shaull (Colleen) all of Williamsburg, Susan Lathrup and Donna McDonald (Dan) of Amana, Reverend John Shaull (Sharon) of Winterset, Jim George (Kathy) of Anamosa, Mark George and Mike George both of Fairfax, David Shaull (Linda) of Oklahoma, Harley Shaull (Deke) of Tennessee, Mary Hebron (Curtis) of Washington, Lorrie Kurshner (Marshall) of Michigan. He is also survived by many loving friends that were like family to him. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Gerald, Ernest, Dale, and Harlan; and three sisters: Maxine Tranberry, Lucille Feller, and Donna Sims. Leslie Wayne Shaull was born January 2, 1920 in Ladora, IA the fourth of nine children of Ernest and Emma (Fiester) Shaull. He graduated from the Ladora High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a baker and cook. Upon his return he worked at Shaull’s Grocery Store in Ladora, which he later purchased. The grocery store was integral to social life in Ladora and provided Wayne with an extended family. Upon closing the store in 1982, he began gardening and sharing the produce with the people in the community. He also kept chickens and made the best egg noodles in the county. He was a member of the Ladora United Methodist Church and served as church treasurer for many years. Wayne enjoyed playing bingo and card games and spending time with Bailey his dog.
