Florence Anna Gordon was born September 3, 1909 in RR Garrison, Iowa to Henry and Minnie (Schellhase) Mealhouse. She attended country school at Monroe # 6 near Garrison and later Garrison public school. On April 6, 1935 she married Richard ?Bus? Gordon at St. Paul?s Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. They made their home between Garrison and Dysart and then moved to California during WWII. In 1945 they returned to Garrison where they operated a hardware store and later a gas station. In February of 1959 they moved to Dysart where she worked at a coffee shop. In l976 they moved to Arkansas and returned to Iowa in l995 and made their home with their daughter, Darby in South Amana. Her death came at Darby?s on Monday morning June 2, 2008 at the age of 98 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard ?Bus? in 1998; brothers, Donald (in infancy) , Vernon and Howard ?Pete?, sisters, Lulu Kruse, Ruth Holtz, Alice Anderson and Mary Francis (in infancy). Florence is survived by her daughter Darby Geiger of South Amana; a sister-in-law Dorothy Pattee of Iowa City three grandchildren Rick Guider of Vinton, IA, Devon Geiger of Bracknell, UK and Victor Jay Harrill of Fort Dodge, IA, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends, and her dog Jake.
