Edward Lewis Meyer, Sr., age 70, of Marengo, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 7, 2008, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Pastor Nathan Loehr officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday, June 6, 2008 at Kloster Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his wife, Annette; his son, Edward Meyer, Jr. of Marengo; a “special” grandson, Sam Wirtanen, also of Marengo; two brothers, Richard Meyer and wife Marietta of Parnell and Leonard Meyer of Conroy; and two sisters, Ruth Melsa of Marengo and Della Stevens and husband Orman of Deep River.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers Vernon, Melvin, David and Floyd.

Edward Lewis Meyer was born May 9, 1938 in Williamsburg, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Alice Mumm Meyer. He received his education in the Williamsburg schools. Edward married Annette Seeley on October 8, 1969 in Marengo. He was employed for 39 years at Pioneer Seed in Marengo as a truck driver and lift operator, retiring in 2000. Following his retirement he continued to work part time at Pioneer Seed and also worked for the Pioneer-Republican newspaper.
